Uplawmoor Hotel has a Restaurant that is decent but not over the top and is fairly priced. The hotel itself is decent and again, not that expensive, so you could possibly combine the two. Good luck.

Ive been to england a few times.  People are very nice and want to help.  I think that is true in every country.

I like to hit the local spots, the pubs, cafes ect.

I saw this little cafe.  I walked in, everybody was local.  I said this is kewl.  I said I have a special date tonight.  Can I talk to the chef? He came out.  I said I just want to bring her somewhere local to dinner.  I get that you do this and this.  But can I have that table over there?

He said we close at 7pm.   I said oh c**p.  He said no you can come at 8.  I said cook what you want, I hate onions she doesnt do seafood.  Its your choice.

I got this massive dinner just because he cared.  They all wanted to stay and watch.  Because I asked.  Dinner like 10lbs a person.  Not even close to what it was worth.  Somebody even went and found candles to put on the table.

I just asked.  It gave them a project and they made it happen.  The tip was huge.  But well worth it.  I wish I knew the place.  But I think anybody would do it for a challenge.  

Create something she doesnt expect.  When that happens everybody wants to help.

I'm not sure how these restaurants are in terms of food and elegance since I have never been to Glasgow and have gotten the information from the internet, hope I could help.

You can also just go to a hotel and ask for a nice restaurant to go to, im sure they will know just the place to go.

I don't know anywhere outside the us, but call a local hotel!  Their concierge will have excellent choices based on how much you want to spend and how far.  They are usually very helpful.  Just call the desk and ask for the concierge.

Or take her to get a mani-pedi (manicure, pedicure) and just sit and talk with her.  If allowed, bring a bottle of wine!
