In my I-20 the date my studies in the US ends is 5th June,2011 but my passport expires 3rd July 2011. Do i need to do anything about this before going for my visa interview which is almost by the corner?

  1. Make sure you finish your studies on time and then go home.  That's what you got the visa for.

  2. It's no problem.

    You can get a new passport at some point in the next few years.

    Also, a passport is valid for 3 months AFTER the expiry date.

  3. you may want to re-apply for a new passport while in the US , your visa will be stamped on your first passport ,after issuance of new passport (before it expires) and keep both passports together for proof ;

    since your passport is still valid until 2011 ,you would not get a new passport now ..only a renewal for the time lasting on your passport .

    i understand that usually you will have to have valid a passport longer than your stay ,but while in the US , just get it renewed .

  4. No need to worry; this is very common for foreign nationals who are on long-term visas in the US.  At some point you will simply apply for a new passport - you may do that while in the US, at one of your country's foreign missions in the US, or when you are back home on break.  Be certain to ask your passport office for the return of your expired passport.

  5. Go home when you're supposed to go home.

  6. Just renew ur passport before it expires. It happen to a relative of mine, she went to the consulate of her country and renew it... its pretty easy and simple (just do it with some time ahead) and there wont be a problem. U should extend ur staying here if you are studying! and you need more time. Both things can be fixed ur expiration date at the consulate or embassy of ur country. And the visa interview... well you know that one is right in the corner like you said!... Hope I helped!!
