My patellar tendons hurt but i dont want to get the straps?

i have seen rubber elastic looking things around some players' knees and i was wondering what that was. any suggestions?

  1. I have jumper's knee or patellar tendonitus.  You have pretty much three options.  1. stop playing.  This may not be a bad idea.  I've cut back my play time and my knees felt better very quickly.  2. Go to an orthopedist and get some rehab.  They may be able to recommend some exercises that can help.  3. Wear the pateller straps.  This helps align the knee cap by putting tension on the patellar tendon.  It also helps eliminate some of the stress from landing.  They do help A LOT.


  2. i have seen people buy the cloth straps.

    but i also know people that wear a rubberband or tight prewrap there- although, i not quite sure that is a good thing.
