  1. Paul B is right, your going to need a XP install disk. The recovery disk is bad.

  2. Sorry man, but there's nothing I can suggest to you other than professional help...if they can't fix it...you're screwed man.

  3. it is telling you that your recovery disk is corrupted

first try to clean the disk

  4. When you say you erased everything on your hard disk how did you do it? If you used another PC and formatted the drive from there you may have erased the recovery partition as well, in which case your recovery CD will not work.

Hopefully what you have is a dirty CD or dirty laser pick up on your CD drive, clean the CD of fingerprints with a soft cloth or tissue paper, no soap no solvents, dry soft cloth only.

Open the CD tray and blow air in, it may be a s simple as that. The practise of putting cotton buds in CD drives is not a good idea, same with tissue paper in CD drives, both will leave behind more crud on the optical pickup than was there originally.

Another thought, is it a SATA drive or IDE? (PATA) did you format it to NTFS or FAT32? SATA drive will need the drivers loading before Windows will access it to be able to format it on booting from the disc, if its IDE then you may find that if you selected FAT32 the recovery disc was made from your drive in NTFS format.

  5. Sounds like a faulty disc but is possibly just a minor fault with your hard drive.  If you did not do a full format, try that, also try running chkdsk /r from the recovery console.   If this is a branded computer recovery disc try using an xp installation disc for the correct version of windows.
