My pc got infected with a virus?

and it is slowing down the performance of my Compaq Notebook. I have a norton antivirus but it is expired already. I also had webroot spam shredder, windows washer, pop up blocker & spy sweeper but these are also expired. any anti virus program that you can suggest.

trendmicro.com use the house call web based scanner. why in the world your you on the Internet with out a working up to date Anti virus software? you must have a death wish.

You should have a good working Anti virus program running at all times and a least three anti spy ware scanners that run at least every night I would suggest these  3 free ones  Spybot search and destroy,ad aware(lava soft.com) and Yahoo anti spy(it is in there tool bar). Delete all the stuff you have now they are worthless being expried.

and click to download the free version. I used to have Norton until I had a virus that I couldn't get rid of. I kept running Norton that said my system was clean. I ran anti-vir and it found 19 trojan viruses. Needless to say, I never bought Norton again. LOL

As for anti-spyware, download Adaware. It is also free, but for getting rid of spyware. The link to download is....  http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_fr...

Also download Spyware Blaster 4.1. The link to download that is here.....  http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3...   It does not scan for spyware, but it actually blocks it from being installed on your computer in the first place. The free version is great, you just have to remember to go in every few days or so and run and update and then click on enable protection on all items.

Advice: Download and install anti-vir asap and run a virus check. Also make sure that you set your anti-vir to run daily or nightly on your computer. I believe it is set up to scan every day at noon by default, but you can change the time. Then download spyware blaster to block any more spyware from being installed, and then download and install adaware to get rid of any spyware on your computer

You could have a virus, but spyware can also significantly reduce your computer's speed. Also go to start and control panel and make sure that you have your windows firewall turned on. :-)
