  1. check the date and time is correct this can break windows update if it"s wrong

If you are on XP download a program called dial a fix this can sort most update problems out

  2. Are you using xp if so go into control panel and find security centre and check if update is switch on check is on automatic install.

  3. have you asked your older sister carol mcgiffin is she can help?

    edit - you so do!

dont worry, shes s**y for an old girl, so its a compliment

can you spot the difference?  cos i cant

  4. That happens to me too. I have to just try and try until they eventually do.

  5. It could be having problems installing the security updates for windows malware remover, download the newest windows malware remover and then try installing the updates again

If you have never used this tool before enter mrt into the run commands

  6. Download and run diali-a-fix

there will be 2 files. make sure you run dial-a-fix.exe

Step 1 > Click the Flush Software Distribution button

Step 2 > Put a check in the box beside "Fix Windows Update"

Step 3 > Click the "Go" button

Step 4 > After it is done (all checkboxes will be empty) try windows update manually from the website http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Step 5 > You might have a yellow bar popup near the top of the webpage. If you do, click on it and choose "Run activex control" or "install activex control"

These steps will fix MOST windows updates issues in Windows XP. I don't think these will work if it's windows Vista
