Question:

My pekin duck keeps pulling out some of his feathers? What is he doing?

He's pulling them out in the breast area and the feathers on his wings now look 'ruffled' He like bites them off too because if you look at him, there is only feather "stubs" ((i guess that's what you can call them)) everywhere he goes and stays for a minute is just feathers. What is he doing?

  1. This is normal. Every year at this time and summer time thay are molting. If its not he could be agitated.

    He should be ok though. My pekins did the same thing.


  2. A lot of bird pluck their feathers when they're stressed or something is bothering them.  The best way to figure out what your bird is dealing with is to call a veterinary office that specializes in birds.

    EDIT: I highly doubt any of the other animals are bothering him.  Those are animals they live with at almost any pond.
