Question:

My period was really short?

I am 15, and I have lost a significant amount of weight in the last few months (20 to 30 pounds). I was overweight before, and I am not anorexic now, I'm actually at the weight I'm supposed to be for my height and age. I have eaten a normal amount of food up until the last few weeks because I've been a lot less hungry. I am probably not eating enough calories.. but not purposely starving myself. I didn't think it was much of a problem until I got my period Friday, and it stopped today. I have slightly scant periods, so they only last about four days, but it hasn't even been two. This is the shortest period I have ever had since I started getting them at 13.. does it have to do with my weight loss or not eating enough? Am I okay?

  1. When I was in my teens I was anorexic and was very active and lost a significant amount of weight quickly and didn't have a period for months even without sexual activity.  This is normal.  Once you start eating again and get to a normal weight that your body likes you'll start again.

  2. it's cause you lost too much weight. you shouldn't be eating less than like 1300cals assuming you are really lazy and do no excercise. if you do excercise you need more caloires.

that happened to me, when you lose weight like that quickly your body thinks it's starving itself and like you aren't getting enough nutrients. you need to go a bit slower on the weight loss, because really light periods like that is not a good sign and sometimes they might even stop.

especially now since you are growing. it could be a sign of a lack of nutrients and stuff and if that's the case it could affect your growth.

i'd say go back to the way you were eating before calorie-wise but make sure the stuff is healthy (wholegrains, veges that stuff) and see if that makes your periods normal again.

  3. there are many things that can change your period. the most common are change of diet, sleeping habits, weight loss and stress

  4. Your weight definitely can affect your periods...overweight or underweight.  I hope you aren't starving yourself to shed the pounds that you have lost, because that really is not healthy and you will end up gaining it all back in the longrun.

  5. How did you lose that much wieght? tell me now! PLZ I'm over wieght very.. 12 140lbs 5"4.... I could use the help!

as for ur Q.. It normal! ur fine

  6. you should go  tell your mother what the problem is and she might set you appointment with the doc have you been with a young man lately?

  7. If some one losses a significant amount of wieght, their period can acctually be delayed. Its like people who do loads of exercise, their puberty comes much later than it would have if they didnt do much sport at all!
