My permanent tooth wiggles now that I have braces!?

Okay, I'm only 13 so I haven't had my permanent teeth for that long. Yesterday I got the wire put in for my braces and it was really tight feeling but everyone says it's supposed to be like that. Well today, I was in the car and my brother elbowed by chin which caused my teeth the clench together when they hit. Now my top tooth wiggles. Not that much, just a little but it can still be felt. I'm afraid of losing it and I don't know if it's because since my teeth feel sensitive after braces and my brother elbowed me that now it's wiggling, or maybe its because my teeth are moving now that I got braces. Also, I don't drink any milk at all. What should I do? Also my moving, that's what the orthodontist told me. Maybe it's loose because it's moving? Help, thank you!

  1. That's perfectly normal.  My teeth were like that many of times while I had braces.  Your teeth are being moved  so they may wiggle a little, but it's normal, so no worries there.

As far as being sensitive, you can try tooth paste for sensitive teeth.

  2. It's perfectly normal. You may notice other teeth get wiggly too because the braces are making them move so they actually have to loosen and then tighten back up in their new positions.

  3. It's normal. In order for your teeth to move, ligaments (which hold your tooth in place and allow for slight movement of the tooth) are being stretched and bone is being destroyed and reabsorbed. This causes pain. Try taking Tylenol for the pain and if that doesn't work ibuprofen usually will do.
