He's probably picked it up from those bad-boy bunyips he hangs around with.

You have a talking kangaroo?  That' s the surprising part in all this, in my opinion. Since 'roos are native to Australia, it's not that surprising that he'd have an Australian accent. To quote the Shakespearean character of Iago (from "Othello"), "Put money in thy purse!"
