While Edward is certainly eligible to represent Australia (his parents or grandparents were undoubtably Aussie citizens),  unfortunately he needed to win at an elite athletics event that is recognised as a qualifying round for the Olympic games.

Perhaps he ought to apply as team mascot for the opening ceremony.  It shouldn't be too late for that.
