Question:

My pet mouse is making weird squeaking noises?

Me and my sister each have 2 mice; 4 mice total. And I've never heard a sound like this before.

She's making really weird squeaking noises.

It's like a constant wheezing noise, like she's having trouble breathing or something.

I looked for other questions people asked about this on Yahoo Answers and some people it's like a warning and she's just saying 'back off' but other people said it could be some respiratory disease.

I told my mom about this, and she said we'll wait a week and see how she is. (I just got this mouse today, she's the newest one.) If is doesn't clear up my mom said she'd rather not take it to the vet because the mouse only cost 3.00 to buy anyways...I know it's sad and I would take her if I could. Unless it could kill her, or it's really hurting her, then my mom said we could go.

Anyone ever heard of anything like this? What would you guys do?

  1. Your mouse most likely has respiratory infection. Mice usually do not make noises which can be heard by the human ear, so this is a sign that something is bothering her.

If your mouse makes clicking or rattling noises, then you should get treatment as soon as possible. It means that she is congested.

Also, if she squeaks and hunches over, it means that she is in pain.

It can certainly kill her if you just leave her and let the symptoms worsen.

Unfortunately, some types are incurable but the treatment greatly decreases the symptoms. As your mouse grows older, it will obviously worsen again.

Get her to the vet as soon as possible.

  2. he/she just wants food because there hungrey or

    did fed ur mice?

  3. she probaly has [URI] upper respitory infection you need a vet yes it is hurting and she could die so i would take her to the vet tomorrow

  4. Try changing her bedding (certain bedding can cause Respiratory Disease.)

I would wait and see what happens, if you feel the need to take her to a Vet, then do so but I don't think they will be able to do much. Plus depending on what Vet you go to, it's very expensive just for walks ins. It would be cheaper to buy another or possible take that one back from where you got it and exchange for a healthier one.

  5. what that means is that it doesn't like something in the cage.  that's what my friends rat did and my chinchilla.  try taking objects out of the cage and see if it stops. replace them and take a new object out and do this until it stops.
