  1. it might be a tumor.  i had three rats and each of them got tumors by their legs.  its really sad, but it happens.  if it is a tumor then you can either let her live with it, it didnt seem to bother mine too much, or maybe you can see a vet.  in my opinion a petstore rat is not worth multiple vet visits.

  2. it could be a tumore,my rat has 3 and that is how they started out.take her to a vet though because i would have to see it to acctualy determine what it is.

  3. I don't know from personal experience, but I think it's very possible that it's Bumblefoot.

All I can say is: take her into the vet. Please.

  4. Sounds like a abcess to me, so you'll need to take her to the vet to get it treated, or it could be cancer.  Some lines of rats are prone to tumors.  Either way your vet is the best option, they will be able to diagnose whats wrong better than anyone can without seeing her.  Hope i've helped a bit.

EDIT: An abscess is an accumulation of bacteria and pus cells under the skin, it is warm, soft an can be painful.  The skin over the site can become quite purplish in colour  and hair over the abscess can be plucked out easily. Left untreated the abscess can continue to fester and spread to other parts of the body, making your rat really sick.

  5. Id say it is cancer, two out of three of my rats got cancer on their front legs and had to be put down. Sadly, it seems to be a common problem in rats.
