My phone has been searching for service for about 12 hours?

I got the LG DARE from verizon wireless less than a week ago. Last night at about 11:00 it came up as searching for service. When i woke up this morning the messsage was still there and I cant make any calls or send text messages or anything.

What can I do to fix this?

Try dialing *228 from your Verizon phone. Then press option 2.  See if that solves your problem.

If not, there is most likely an outage in your area. You would just have to wait it out. You can call customer care from a land line (home phone, work phone, pay phone, another cell phone that has service...etc) and report the outage. The number is [phone]
