My phone jack is stuck in the wall!?

It's an old building and the cover has been painted over, so I can't unscrew it.

I tried to unplug it to reset my internet, and instead, yanked the wire leaving just the plastic stuck in the wall. I've tried tweezers and a s***w driver to pry it out with no success. Anyone have any idea how to get ito ut without ripping out the wall or damaging the jack? Thanks

For starters, you should be able to get the cover off by taking a VERY sharp knife and goiong around the perimeter of the cover to cut through the paint. Please be  careful with that knife :)

If you are refering to the modular plug stuck in the jack, use a small s***w driver to depress the plastic tab while you pull out the plug with a pair of needlenose pliers.
