My phone service is always out. Should I change carriers or does this happen to everyone?

I purchased a package deal which includes phone service, high speed internet access, and cablevision.

Yesterday, I woke up once again my phone service was out and so was my high speed internet. This is not the 1st time. My phone has been out at least 5 or 6 times in the last 11 months. I called and was put on hold for 45 minutes each time. I felt stupid sitting in my back yard on my cell phone trying to get ahold of someone from the company to fix my service and being on hold until my cell phone almost set my ear on fire. My cell phone only sends and recieves calls in the back yard, so thats why I was out there in the 30 MPH wind gusts in 40 degree temperatures waiting and waiting and waiting. I finally called someon to ask for new service and they answered! I told the lady if someone did not at least aknowldege me on the phone, I was going to cancel my service. She called them too and finally told me she left a service request on the computer.

Should I find a new provider?

  1. I would never put up with lousy service.....if something doesn't work....I will change services!

We all pay good money for phone service and if its a crummy service  look for some other provider....

  2. did cablevision run any phone wires or did they connect their phone wires into existing phone wires you had, or do u plug your phone straight into their modem? if there are phone wires involved you have faulty wires that are causing your phone to go dead, if not it might a defective modem. i would switch to verizon, they are a bit pricey but they have the best service when it comes to fixing phone lines.. check the site below it has useful info about phone lines. good luck.

  3. wow, your patient.  well, i would change providers if i'd had that many problems.  If you are now getting service from your cable company, it sounds like the installer did a sub-par job.  The main line to your home may be bad, or the line your modem is on was split too many times.  If your modem is in the same room as a tv make sure they are on independent lines, if not call them back and have them come back out and do the install right.  I've been doing phone and cable work for about 8 years, and that will fix the problem 80% of the time.  Good luck.

  4. Poor customer service is now the "norm".  Good customer service is the exception now days.  But as consumers, we should not accept poor service without recourse.

If you made reasonable attempts to have your problems resolved to no avail, or if the service is just plain unreliable, then for sure find another service provider.  These companies need to learn that we deserve to get what we pay for, and if they don't deliver, we WILL find someone else who can and will provide better service.

That said, you may have to change service a few times before finding someone you feel is giving you good value for your money.
