  1. Yeah it because of new securtity checks etc check in is between 1-3 hours depending on if the flight is international or what not, so if you are late then it may cause problems due to the new security measures...

    (:

  2. I have a grand idea lassie, call the airline. I bet they know more then anyone on here. You must be as bored as I.

  3. probably 20:20 is the final.. when you travel out of country its longer because you have to go through more inspections, as well as your lugagge

  4. If this is a cheap holiday/airline, they may have the check-in time early, so they still have time to fill in empty seats if people don't show up.

Some tour companies also do group check-in, and want everyone to be there to check in at the same time.

If you go after your check-in time, there may be nasty surprises in store, so I'd double-check with the company to see when the final check-in time is, and then go to the airport in good time with some reading.

  5. I have worked in the travel industry for many years and it is quite normal for a 'check-in' of two hours. With security being so tight now, most tour operators ask you to check in three hours prior to your flight.

I always go to the airport early, that way you can get rid of your luggage and have plenty of time to get something to eat and look in all the shops before you board your flight. You also don't have to hang around in the queue and rush around doing the things you want.

  6. You have to 2 hrs before buy the time you have gone through the security checks you will have 1hr maybe less. Time to shop and eat etc. Don't be one of them who hold the plane up by checking in late.

  7. yes it is 3 hours for international flights but alot of people who live near the airport will risk getting there 2 hours before.

The checkin may depend what type of plane. A larger plane may be 1 hour  before leaving.

  8. You are usually required to check in at least 3 hours before the plane is due to leave.  This is to ensure that all bags can be screened and loaded and all passengers are screened prior to going air side.

You will also experience queues to check in, again, this is all built into the time that you are required to check in and again, queues to get through security.

My own thoughts about this is that yes, it requires me to get to the airport earlier and my cynical side then thinks that as passengers, we are a captive audience to potentially spend money at the shops air side!  However, my other thought is that by checking in early it then allows me the freedom to look in the shops lol!

    Hope this helps, enjoy!

  9. You should generally be at an airport 2 hours before the flight, especially with today's increased security measures. Honestly by the time you've checked your bags in, got through customs and had a drink in the departure lounge until be time for the plane to leave. Have a good holiday.

  10. most airlines tell you to checkin 2 or 3 hours beforehand-you can cut this time right down by pre booking your seats

  11. it si ridiculously early, you will joina queue of people and you will be moved to the duty free lounge and have to wait for 2 hours, hence shopping and eating to fill in the time in Cardiff, they have you as reluctant passengers, cos you cannot go anywhere else.

If you live near and can take transport then an hour is more than enought to get through baggage, pasports and check-in at the gate. It will also miss the queue of fellow passengers, so unless you want star-bucks or browsing the bar and newspaper shops then make your own time to arrive.
