They're various plants I've planted indoors - watermelon, lettuce, tomatoes...The plants are turning yellow-white and some of them are starting to wilt. Are they overheated or overwatered or something else completely different?

  1. you my have put to much water if they are turnning yellow.you can try putting them out in the sun for a bit.

maybe give them some plant food epsome salt is a good cheap plant food .i use it in my chili pepper garden. It works!for me any way.

  2. For a little sprout, they do not need much water or direct sun. Do you see any white on the soil? If so, a fungus has taken over. If you are a warm area in the USA you can just start these outside with better results at this time of year. Try relocating them for a bit to a less direct sunny area. If you touch the soil and it is very wet, you have over watered. If damp, they still can be over watered. A baby sprout is very delicate.

    Good luck!

  3. You cannot grow vegetables in a basement without using hydroponic grow lights.  They need direct sunlight.

Either buy a grow lamp with a full spectrum light, or choose something that you can grow in a basement that doesn't require light...like mushrooms.
