My playstation 3 keeps locking up?

Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my playstation 3? It won't load the game right away. It takes at least 10-15 minutes before it decides to read it and that's after i have taken it out 4 or 5 times. Then sometimes it freezes up during a game. Has anyone had this to happen to them?

This happened to me.

1st things 1st, check your firmware, if its a newer game your trying to play, your ps3 might not have the update to read it.

Next make sure the disc is clean, 100% clean, no smudges, no dust or lint.  

Try not to remove the disc. Also try enabling the auto start from your PS3's XMB menu, a lot of times it works faster than manually waiting for the disc to appear in the menu

Next is gonna be your laser, a cleaning kit can be bought from a Gamestop or bestbuy.

During game if it seems to freeze up theres really nothing you can do.  Over time for me, when i played Madden it tended to freeze less and less. Its frustrating, but now i never get stuck when playing it.
