My pleco floats!?!?! Normal?

my pleco will occasionlally float to the top of the tank but hes not dead! the water is fine i tested it and i shut the lights oiut at night so he eats> wat could it be???

  1. He could be having a swim bladder problem (which regulates bouyancy).

    Usually there is nothing you can do about it and they can live just fine as long as they can get to their food. I have heard rumors that if you fast the fish for about 5 days that *might* help the problem. I say give it a shot just for the heck of it.


  2. he could have a bacteria that causes them to go in to shock just dont put any chemicals in your water because that will make it worse just keep doing what you are doing and hope for the best

  3. Plecos will feed on any surface, even upside down at the surface.  See below quote under "recommended diet" on below site.

    "Plecostomus will actually swim upside down at the surface of the water to eat floating flake food..."

  4. mine sometimes swims around. looks like hes soaring or something hahah. maybe hes just swimming.
