Question:

My plug 4 a dial up doesnt work(why)?

in the back theres only 1 plug 4 a phoneline,i think it was setup 4 cable dialup.inow how it set up to dial but i cant get a sound;why are there only one line in the back of the tower?what should i do to fix it ?thank you!

  1. The sound could be muted. The phone jack could be dead. The cable could be bad. The modem could be bad. The modem drivers could be setup incorrectly. Your dial up connection could be setup incorrectly.

    Chack all of the above.


  2. Do you mean that there is only one port (hole) in the back of your pc tower? If so, then that will be where the modem lead plugs in using and rj9 or rj11, a small clear connector. The other end normally has a standard telephone jack on it, which plugs directly into the phone socket. Have you plugged a telephone into this socket to see if there is dial tone? If so, I would change your modem lead and see if that works. If not, then it is your dial up settings.
