My pond fish have fin rot and I have been treating them for a week.How do you know when they are better?

after you follow the directions on the medication bottle...

it will take a while for the fins to look good again...

but if you follow the directions and give them the medication accordingly they should start to heal..

You should be able to see the fins growing back.  Working on water quality is always better than giving meds.

They'll grow their fins back. ;_

You should also be doing almost daily water changes on your pond on top of medicating.  Fin rot is almost ALWAYS caused by poor water quality and dumping meds into the fishes environment without addressing what is causing the fin rot is not going to work.
