  1. It sounds like choke.  When a horse chokes it's not like a person choking - they can still breathe fine but have something stuck in their throats.  If left to "hack it up" all night, he could do major damage to his esophogas, irritating it and making it more likely to choke in the future.  If he hasn't gotten better on his own by now (which can sometimes happen) call the vet out.  Get the vet who's on emergency call because this can't be left until Monday.

  2. There are several possibilities.

    1. The pony has something stuck in its throat. Horses cannot throw up, so it's probably unlikely to have much to do with the stomach.

    2. Your pony has a respiratory infection or problem.

    3. The pony has "heaves," a common name for horse asthma.

    4. Your pony has "stable cough," triggered for sometimes unknown reasons (viral, bacterial, and lung problems are ruled out) when a horse is still in a stall.

  3. Probably choke, hopefully not strangles...no fever I assume?

  4. first of all languge please. your horse could be chokeing dont give it any hay or grain let it eat grass and drink water

  5. if he is around a lot of dust, he might have inhaled a little to much. just wiat it out. if it continues, take em to the vet. and watch your language, no reason to flip out.

  6. He's got a choke.  That 's when they swallow something, and either because they haven't chewed it enough or it's too bit or something similar, it doesn't go down but is caught in the esophagus.

The vet needs to come out and treat this.  He'll pass a tube down and try to push the mass on into the stomach.

It's not immediately life threatening, but it does warrant an emergency vet call.  It is EXTREMELY uncomfortable for the horse, and needs to be professionally handled.
