  1. You should call the farrier and/or the vet if you don't know where the problem originates.  It could be a sole bruise or something, but you need to know what it is to deal with it.

  2. get him back shoes or call the vet

  3. Is he REALLY a pony (Under 14.2 hands)?  If he is a real pony, and does belong to you, I would call out a vet for him and see what's going on.  If he really is a pony, he could have foundered.  If he is a horse, chances are depending upon his age, concussion on "rides/lessons", could be either ringbone or navicular and you will want to have your vet come out and diagnosis this problem.  Once the vet has determined what is causing him to be off and on sound, then you can work with your farrier to see what he can do to help the problem.

  4. depending on where you live and if the trails are rocky i would put back shoes on him, he might have to pop a gravel which caused my mare to go lame so you would just have to wait I would call out the farrier to see what he/she would suggest and if they can seem whats wrong I would call out the vet because something in his leg could be causing him to become lame. if he is really lame you can give him so bute to help with the pain before the farrier or vet comes out. Sorry I know its not that much information but I hope it helps

  5. well you should call the vet and the farrier asap. when my horse kept coming up lame she had something really wrong with her. she had a lot of swelling and damage to her hoof and she will be layed up for about a year now. well i hope that isn't it but call both of them and see what they say. good luck. i hope that isn't the case. 7. Is this your own pony?   If so, you don't need anyone to give you permission to call the farrier, right?  If he is your pony, why is he working 7 days a week?  That alone might be a lot of his problem. I would start with giving him rest until he comes sound, then start him back with some days off during the week. You didn't mention if he was coming up lame on the front or the back...if on the back, maybe it would help if you put shoes on him.

  8. it depends which leg he is becoming lame on, u need to be more specific.

if he is becoming lame on his back legs then i would recomend call the farrier as he could be getting foot sore, if its on his front legs then i would call the vet as your pony has front shoes on

    hope he gets better soon

  9. If he keeps coming up lame take him out of service!! Your vet and farrier need to consult each other on this.

  10. If it was my pony I would take him out of service till I found out why he is lame.   Is he lame on the front, r or l  or is he lame on the hind r or l  or are his legs, hawks or knees giving him trouble. maybe it is his back.shoulders ..or is it some of each...you do not really give us much to go one here.  If the lameness is due to too much wear and tear on the hooves due to a lot of gravel or pavement trails...then get the hind shoes on...but if it is some other issue, you will have to consult the farrier as well as the vet to see what can be done to fix the problem if it can be fixed.

  11. Call the farrier...if you still don't have a diagnosis, call the vet.  Don't keep riding the pony until you have taken care of the problem.
