  1. you have air trapped in the impeller .try tapping gently on side of motor while it is running to let the air out.

  2. Did you fill the volute, area under the lid, with water?  You need to do this.  Also if you have a hose spigot on your plumbing, usually after the pump and before the filter, attach a hose to it and fill the filter and plumbing with water.  This will help.

If the above does not work you could be needing a new pump!

If your pump does not prime in several minutes, stop it and refill the volute with water then recap.

    You're welcome!!

  3. heres a webpage with a few tips on troubleshooting a pool pump that will not prime: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com...

  4. the bearings in the motor have swollen up due to heat traveling down the motor shaft from the wet end or pump . there has not been enough water in the pump trap ALL of the time to keep the mechanical seal cool inside the pump. when this happens the heat from the seal is generated down the motor shaft to the bearings in the motor and causes the bearings to get loud.and yes the motor will have to be replaced along with the mechanical seal and orings inside the pump. and maybe even the connectors or nipples on the suction and discharge of the pump.
