There's a metal band with a tensioner holding the two parts together, but tightening the band doesn't slow down or stop the leak. The pump also made an unusual noise when it came on, like it wasn't really pumping like it should, but the pressure in the filter tank was normal. I shut off the pump to avoid further damage.

  1. SOunds like you need to replace the gasket.

Take off the top of the pump. ( the thing you move to place it into filter, backwash, etc... ) there is a small gasket under there that needs to be replaced offten.

    It cost maybe $12.00 ...

This gasket will cause small leaks everywhere.

Good luck and let us know if you need any further help.

  2. you need to remove the band and check the rubber o ring that goes in between the two pieces...the o ring usually fits into one piece with the other piece having a flat surface for it to seal against..these orings are not very expensive...the odd noise you are hearing is probably the pump caviting because it is sucking air hwen it starts but as it pumps more it quits sucking air and starts pushing water out where it was sucking air..

  3. hav u stoped think abt what caused the leak in the first place?  mor than likely its a rubber seal that has deteriorated because the chemicals in your pool hav rotted it away, causing u time and money loss... anyway, how would u like to swim in a chemical free pool that actually preserves your pumps, seals, and pluming while delivering u fresh water to swim in?  email me if u want to know how info@itsallhollywood.com
