Question:

My pool was opened alittle cloudy now it looks blue and cloudy.?

I opend up my pool alittle cloudy i shocked it vacumed it then added stuff called golden glop from island rec pool store. It's a clairafire. Now it looks total light blue cloudy. What do i do i have a good filter everything is new i have had the pool for 3 years and it's been ok now i am stuck i closed it good so i dont know what to do? =)

  1. From what I'm picturing it sounds like some sort of algae/bacteria thing. You can try some more shock (we had to use lots of shock to get frogs out of our pool) to see if it will kill it off if it is a small lifeform but otherwise I'm not sure, I could only recommend going to a pool supply store and maybe even bringing in a sample of the pool water to them wouldn't hurt, maybe they can send it off to be tested for you.

    It's hard to tell exactly from the information you have given. Is your pool in balance?  I can give you the main suspects - and I guess you can check from there:

    1) High Ph - causes cloudiness

    2) High Calcium Hardness

    3) High TDS - to much gunk, which your clarifier should have fixed

    4) High Chlorine level (yes!)

    These are the main culprits!!

  3. Let the filter work for about 12 hours then check it tomorrow. It should clear up.
