My potato plant has no potatoes, funny I know but help!?

Ok Ive never grown potato's before, and I thought i'd try just one to see how it goes.

I planted it in a brick troth i have around my back porch, But the soil kept sinking i kept covering the plant.

The plant hs been growing flowers for around 2 weeks now, so i thought id have a feel around to see how big the potatoes were, i coouldnt find any so i gently pulled the plant up. And to my horror the was NO POTAOTES!!!

So i repoted the plant in a large bucket, to see how it goes.

The troth's soil sunk and the was no where ffor the plant to root down.

Will the plant be ok now ive repoted it? Also I have a couple growing in the soil in my garden, will these be ok?

howdee,,yep in order to git taters ,,you gotta plant a large,  seed tater,,bout size of hen egg,,with at least 2 or 3 eyes  on it,, cut tater ,,let it cure for bout 2 or 3 days,,keep it dry,,,plant cut side down ,,bout 6 inches deep in sandy soil,,,4 inches  in heavy soil,,,pull dirt to tater  vines when bout 6 inches tall,,and bout once a week there after,,,hey don't eat the taters  that have green on  em,,,they poison,,,make u sick,,or worse,,,repoted plant probably will not make it,,as you have destroyed the tap root,,,  hey  in Mississippi it takes bout 90 days to grow taters,,,depends on when you planted em,,,if the ones in garden will produce,,,be patient and keep  dirt pulled to em,,,,good luck with em,,,,,

how big were those potato seeds you planted?  Were each of seed size about as big as or bigger than an egg?

The main point is how big your seeds were planted?  If you only plant a cut sprout scooped from potato skin, then there will be no potato at all no matter how marvellous they were flowering.

And potato belong shallow root plant, when flowers ceased and around the end of fall or when the full plant leaves turn yellow, you could see a lot of potato emerge on the surface of soil.

So next time, be sure prepared a good soil mixed with a lot of manure and do not plant in the same place or the same soil as last year.  Then plant a big shrunk old potato seed which you could buy from any grocery store in the winter time and let them germinate during winter, then plant each potato out in your vegei garden with full of sunlight and regular watering them.  Do not forget when you saw the tiny potatos emerge out of soil cover them a thin layer of straw or soil prevent their skin turning green until the end of the fall....

Then you got it.  That is what I learned hope it would be very helpful to you.  They are very easy to grow... fool proof plants if you follow the right steps.(*_____*)  You will got the most fresh and firm potato in the world than anyone from mart.

my guess is you checked them too soon-they not produced yet still young in growth
