looked healthy enough when we bought. Garden center said lots of sun, water 1x per week, use a cactus mix to plant it in. We've done all that. The thing is going bald! Just in the past 2 weeks. Why, and how can I fix it?

  1. is it growing. it may just be in shock. give is some plant food and water every other day if warm. also cheak for bugs. some hide underneath the leaves. if their are any yellowing leaves this may be the effect of a bug infestation

  2. it's stressed.   if you did follow all the Garden Center suggestions then perhaps the only thing left is you may have planted it too high or too deep.   It should be planted at the same level as it was in the original container.  surely the container has drainage and you're not over watering?    some leaf drop stress is normal, so if there's any new growth starting, it should be ok.
