i just recently adopted a pregnant cat, and she is the one of the most lovable little cat i have ever had( and i own 3 others that are just as lovable as well)

but she seems to have an aversion to my dog

the other cats she wont do anything, or every now and then if shes in a certain room she'll attack them, but only in that one room, thats probably where she'll give birth

every time she sees the dog come within 5 feet of her, no matter where it is, she swats at his face and runs after him

how can i get her to stop doin this?

  1. A pregnant cat should not be under stress.  This could cause complications or cannibalism.  Keep her in her own room with everything she needs.  Don't let the dog pester her at the door or make really loud noises.  Don't have a party or something.  Keep the house calm while she is pregnant or nursing.  Get them separated now!!!

Good luck and have fun with the kittens!!!

  2. Your cat is trying to protect her soon to be born kittens. It's instinct. Just keep your dog in a different room from your cat.

  3. the cat wants to take care of the babys

  4. You may not be able to stop this behavior.  Your new kitty is doing what comes natural and being protective of her soon coming litter

  5. If you recently got her then she most likely doesn't know your dog that well so he's still considered a threat to her unborn kittens. I went though the same thing twice, my son has brought home 2 pregnant cats and they both hated my 2 dogs. I put up a child gate that the dog couldn't get over but my mama cat could so she could feel safe in her part of the house. I also put a padded box in the walk in closet for them to have their kittens in, neither used it by the way and I had to transfer their little nasty bloody offspring to the box after they were born. Birth is not a pretty thing, my son delt with the second litter. Once they get use to the dog they are ok, and the kittens adapt quickly if their raised with the dog.

  6. she may calm down after she has her kittens.  I would not let the dog near her while she is nursing the kittens, they can be very protective moms.
