While confirming the reports that he has been given the task to mentor the Pakistan batsmen ahead of the global tournament, Miandad, who is currently the director general of cricket in the PCB, said that he was going to Sri Lanka as a PCB official and would
work with the national team while remaining in his domain.
"There will be no issues because while I am a part of the PCB and going there as a PCB official, Whatmore is the head coach and we both have our domains to work in. I don't think there will be any misunderstanding," said the 55-year-old former Pakistan cricketer,
who was also part of the 1992 World Cup winning squad.
The legendary right-handed batsman also played down the reports that he was going to the Island nation in the capacity of a batting coach.
Miandad, a veteran of 124 Tests and 233 ODIs, has served the national team thrice in the past in capacity of coach. However, in the recent years he has repeatedly turned down the offer to coach the national team citing busy schedule.
Expressing confidence in the abilities of the players, the PCB director general vowed to fulfil all the duties given to him by the PCB chairman with full commitment.
