well I have a wireless network set up, and my printer prints on the computer that it is attatched to, but not on the one over the network.

is there any software that will allow me to fix this, can anyone tell me what to do?

the computer over the network just activates the printer to spit out paper, but does not print text.

  1. for one thing you need to make sure that you print out a configuration page for your network printer get the IP address and keep note of that. Since it is a network printer it will grab an IP via DHCP. add a new printer in your PC that can't connect.

Select local printer, select create new port, and choose standard TCP/IP, and enter the IP address of the network printer, choose the type of network card usually generic card, choose the right model printer or browse the installation cd. This will install the printer and it's printer driver and you should be able to print on the network.

Usually a printer on the network that receives a command that doesn't print anything or garbage text is a driver issue.

  2. did u try to go they and add a net work printer (is your printer even a net work printer)

  4. It sounds like you have not correctly installed the network printer on the remote computer. Sounds to me like its a driver issue. Try installing the network printer again on the remote computer again, paying attention to the section that installs the printer files to run the remote printer.

  5. Maybe you havn't made your computer (the one attached to the printer) a printer server. To do so, go to the control panel, printers and faxes, then right click on the printer you want to use and click sharing. Then click on the bubble next to "share this printer".
