can't really tell if my lamp or bulb is out on my projector, but it keeps turning off after about thirty seconds of use. pretty lame. anyways, it fires up as it would normally, the image is huge and bright, very vivid, but it will NOT stay on. i have no idea what to look for in order to tell what part needs replacement, and if to your knowledge (can you help me figure out what's wrong), can you please tell me how to replace the lamp in the projector. i have a Mitsubishi Hc900. pleeease help!!!

i have posted before, with the answers that say that the lamp could not be burnt out, but a protection circuit causing it to shut off, also, overheating, or even a dirty air filter. i want a second opinion on this, and if it is any of the previously stated, how would i go about fixing them?

thank you very much!!

  1. why not try calling the company that made it and ask them..

Projectors are old and not many people even know what they are, let alone how to fix one..

  2. Try a search on www.avsforum.com in the projector section. If you can't find anything related with your projector, join the forum and ask the same question there. I'm sure someone will have some knowledge pertaining to your problem. Good luck.

  3. As suggested before, read the manual (see the link) ... See page 32.  Use the state of the power and status lights to give you a clue. As stated earlier overheating is the likely problem but follow the manual.

If this doesn't help you need profesional help ... take it to a service technician.

  4. If you can't work out if its the bulb or not then you are not quallified to fix anything more complex.

Take it to the shop. Ask an electrician

  5. smash it with ur head.

  6. I think the spec for this is 250W Shut Off Time 2000 Hrs. Any idea how much time is on the lamp? Also, sometimes circuitry that prevents overheating will also shut it down so ensure the filter is clean and getting good air flow through it.

Unfortunately however, sometimes these lamps just go bad. Call the manufacture 888.307.0349 or contact Mitsubishi Customer Care at www.Mitsubishi-presentations. Probably your best bet initially, projector lamps are not cheap.
