i bought my hdmi cable for my ps3 a couple of months ago already and my system recognized it fine. but one day while i wanted to play a game it the screen displayed all black. i reset the display settings and connected the hdmi cable again but it didnt even recognize it. i tried many options but none seems to work.

could it be my cable thats broken?

  1. Check the couplings at either end of the cable.  Sometimes these will loosen and can cause a lack of signal strength.  Also, HDMI cables don't like to be bent, so try making the cable as straight as possible.

  2. Hey,

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but its probably not the cable, its probably the ps3. HDMI cables don't really break because they are just wires, they don't have moving parts. Try connecting your PS3 to your TV with the regular cable red, white, and yellow connectors that you got when you bough the PS3. If the PS3 doesn't work with the original red, white, and yellow connectors then you know its the PS3. If the PS3 does work fine, you know its either the HDMI cable (still unlikely) or the HDMI connection on your TV or PS3 (more likely).

    Hope this helps!

  3. I have found that on the ps3 some hdmi cables don't fit that well and if you jiggle them a little the signal will eventually lock on. Try putting a little pressure on the cable side to side to see if you get a picture. Do it slowly and wait a couple of seconds each time. If you do eventually get a picture obviously you will need a new cable.Make sure with your new cable you try to jiggle it to make sure your signal integrity is maintained. If all is good you should have no further troubles.
