  1. 360's r better they just clip on, the ps3 is a laptop like hdd, u have to open it and replace it.

if u have shiiit on there might be damages, the platters might have been scratched.

good luck, if u arent comfortable replacing it call sony n 2 to 3 months later u might have it, my friend is still waiting for his they made him pay 100 dollars too, oh well

  2. My 360 Hard Drive Corrupted and i lost all of my memory and i had to buy a new HDD. luckily 4 me all i had to do was clip it off and replace it.

  3. if you can get to the xmb then try formating the drive you will loose all data but least it will work again. or if you cant get to the xmb either call sony or buy a a bigger and better hard drive and replace it.

  4. If you can still get to your XMB screen go to settings, scroll down to system settings then click on the format utility. This will reformat your hard drive and the corrupted sectors should be isolated.

Note that by doing this you will loose everything that was stored on the hard drive including your game saves. If you've bought anything from the Playstation store that can easily be recovered because the store maintains a record of past purchases and they can be downloaded again for free.

As long as you're going to loose your game saves anyway, this would be a perfect time to upgrade your hard drive to a larger capacity one should you be so inclined. Instructions for doing this are included in your system manual and IT WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY. Additionally there are numerous videos on You Tube showing how to do this. It is incredibly easy.

When I upgraded mine to 250 gigabytes I found the biggest challenge was finding a very small fillips head screwdriver with a substantial enough handle to get the job done. An electronic screwdriver kit from Radio Shack for $8.00 solved that small problem. Just like many jobs it's all about using the right tool. The whole job should take no more than 15 minutes at most.
