My ps3 wont update...?

i recently got a new ps3 80gb and when I turn the console on it goes straight ti a system update screen and after a few minutes is says update error how do i fix this??

brand %@$@^% new ps3 slim. i buy cod for it, it says to update. i get on cod and update through disc. it updates and says it finishes. i got to start up psn and it says i need a @$^@^%*@ update
