My psp can't read my memory card, but my digital camera can?

for some reason my psp can't read my memory card, no matter how many times i insert it. I stopped using it for a while, then this morning the memory somehow started working again. I used it for the day, and turned it off. Now it doesn't work again. My digital camera can read it, does a psp have weaker sensors? or is the psp broken?

  1. First, check that you have a memory stick pro or memory stick pro duo. The PSP can't read SD or MMC cards. Next, check the contacts (The golden pads). If these are dirty, the card can't be read, but this shouldn't be a problem, as the pins in the PSP press hard enough to scratch a small layer off the top. If none of these are problems, your PSP might be damaged somehow - the card reader might be broken. Try it in another PSP. The card probably isn't faulty, as it works in your camera.

The likely problem is that the card is of the wrong type - PSPs can only use Memory Stick Pro and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards. The actual reading does not use sensors, but metal connectors which make physical contact and 'talk' to a memory chip inside the card. If the card used to work, the PSP might be at fault, Try the card in another PSP. Hope this answer helps.
