My pup doesn't know how to drink out of his bowl?

Question

every time he drinks water he either chokes or gets water up his, and then sounds like he has trouble breathing which im pretty sure he is... how can teach him or help him out to drink properly?

You should ask the vet . sounds like my dog she has esophagusprobems, if so the raised dish will help.

If he's very young, I use a small pizza pan to help him learn to drink and eat mushy dog food.

I would try a very shallow bowl be sure to refill it often. you can also help him by dipping your fingers in his water and encouraging him to l**k the water off, slowly leave your hand closer to the bowl until he is l*****g your fingers under the water. I beleive this will help teach him not to plunge his whole nose into the water. do this until he is more confident about the bowl.

don't put as much water in it ... just enough he can l**k up but won't drowned in it .. then get deeper and deeper till he learns

You could try putting a few ice cubes in his water dish. Sometimes that helps them to l**k off the top rather than sticking his whole face in the water. It may also cool the water down enough so that he won't need to drink as much so fast.

he probly is just drinking 2 fast just try 2 pet him or something like that before he drinks 2 calm him down

what kind of dog??? you may want to give him his water out of a raised water bowl....instead of one on the ground. that can cause bloat and kill a dog. the raised water dish should help.
