  1. That seems high for a broken leg on a puppy.  Several years ago, I left my puppy on the kitchen counter while I get something out of the fridge, she jumped down and broke one of her front leg, she spent a month in the cast and my vet bills total (including follow up) is only around 200-300.  You might want to take her to a different vet, sound like you've been overcharge.

  2. Call Vets and ask around/ See if you can set up a payment plan.

    Turn off your internet.

  3. go to a place that LOOKS really really cheap. just because it looks bad doesn't mean they will do a bad job.

  4. offer to make payments with you vet. explain your situation .

  5. see if they can help you here:

    http://www.realitycharity.com/

if not you might have to take out a loan:

  6. get a second opinion. That always helps.

  7. call other vets ask for payment plan were you are lots of luck

  8. apply for care credit http://www.carecredit.com/

  9. Call the community newspaper and ask them if they'll run a human interest story on your problem. You may be able to score some donations through that method.

It's too late to buy insurance, but maybe you should still sign up incase of another accident/surgery in the future. Vet bills are never cheap or affordable.
