I have a 9 week old siberian husky puppy. I have been crating him for about 2 weeks. Every morning he wakes up at 4am to go potty & then goes back to sleep in crate. He then wakes up @ a 6am to play & wants to go outside to play also. He will cry for over an hr if i don't let him out to play. I have 2.5 yr old twins so i cant just get up & take him out for a walk or outside to play. Also when i go out during the day he will cry for at least an hr in the crate...what do i do? Also i dont function well at that time of morning!

  1. You decided to get the pup, you have to follow through and do a good job raising him.  He might have to potty again and is probably hungry at 6am.  Be a good pack leader and get up to meet the pups needs.

  2. Throw his toys and a bone to play with in the crate.

BTW that is a lot to handle with 2 year olds running around also .

  3. I remember being there! You probably don't want to hear it but you need to go to bed earlier cause 6 am, want it or not, is your wake up call. Even thought your pup goes potty at 4, when he goes back to sleep he doesn't fall into a deep sleep enough to not feel his bladder, he needs to get out again. After his 6 am potty don't put him back in his crate, put his breakfast in a kong, make it challenging for him to get to so that will keep him busy while you make your coffee and try to wake up. If the twins aren't up yet just enjoy the little bit of peace and quiet! also, before the kids wake up you could also go play outside with your pup and carry on you your baby walky- talky.

  4. he may just need some time to get past this.

have you tried a ticking clock in with him so he thinks there's another heartbeat with him so he doesn't feel alone?

  5. there was a true story where a dog cried every night at 12- o -clock

and when he cried some one would die close to the owner it happend every day for a long time eventualy the dog cried at twelve when him and his owner were crossing the road and BANG!!! both of them were dead!!!!

    lol but its true

  6. he is probably missing his mom you should show more love and care towards that puppy

  7. patience is the key remember that he's a baby too.  just like babies puppies won't die due to a little crying stick  with it

  8. awww!!!  Well, technically this is expected.  Puppies always want to play and he may need to empty his bladder again at 6 am, chances are though, he probably only wants to play.  Can you walk him alot before bedtime the night before?  That will run his energy down, give him a chance to potty, and help him sleep much better.  Puppies have alot of energy, as you probably know, so make sure he gets enough.  Although it may be hard with 2.5 year old twins (they sound so cute!!).  If you give him a raw hide chewy or toy in the morning will he quiet down??  Also, I don't know if this would help, but if you keep his kennel by your bed (if you already haven't) your scent and presence will calm him down maybe.  Or you could make a small play pen or babygate your bedroom maybe.  Good luck, and try to be patient, I know it's hard!!!

  9. why on earth did you get a puppy when you have 2.5 year old twins? wow you must be superwoman! Anyways i would try gradually delaying his meals. i figure if you feed him a little later he might go potty a little later and then sleep in a little later. Just do it very gradually of course, you don't want to add more crying for food as well. :) Best of luck.

  10. If he is still a puppy then he is probably missing his mum, put a clock in his bed because the ticking reminds them of the mums heart. Dont get into a habit of letting him out at 4am to pee cause then your going to have to be doing that alll the time.

A dog will never pee where they have to sleep so if you confine his bed for about 2 weeks he will learn to hold it in until you let him out.

  11. Before you got your puppy, he most likely learned this habit. Maybe it was when they got up where he was living before, and now, he wakes up, and he's lonely. He misses his mom, bothers and sisters. Try to acknowledge him, but don't take him out to play, as this will only encourage him to keep doing it. Give him a stuffed animal, or a toy (a quiet one). Once he learns that he is alone and all that crying isn't getting him anywhere, he will stop. But it will take some time. Just reassure him that you are there (somewhere else, but in the house) and that he's going to have to wait until you get up. He needs to learn your routine over his old one. Have patience, and I know, its hard, especially when your worried that he will wake the twins. Give him something quiet to keep him busy in the meantime.

  12. You just answered your own questions.

"He will cry for over an hr if i don't let him out to play."

And when you're gone and he misses you, duh.
