Also, he does this weird breathing thing, likehes sneezingbut itsbackwards.it almost soundslike hes got something stuck in his throat and he cant get it out. but his whole body seizes up when he does it. its a little haard to explain.

  1. Time for a new dog!

  2. It wouldn't hurt to call a vet.  They might suggest bringing him in, but I would at least call and see what they recommend.

Hope your little guy gets better!  : )

  3. yea, dude. listen to itsxkell . what are you doing here? you shouldve taken him a long time ago

  4. I wouldn't worry about the balding thing.

My dog, a chocolate lab, does the same wheezing noise, so I know what your talking about. My mom took him to the vet and the vet said he had something wrong with his throat, some big long 'l' word. (I can figure it out if you really want to know). It does not give any big problems now, but could require surgery in the future.

The vet also said you can help the wheezing noise by having the AC on in the heat and keep the house cold. I noticed my dog doesn't wheeze that much when it is colder out.

I am not sure if your dog has the same thing. You might want to check with the vet before doing anything serious

  5. I'm not sure about the bald spot - maybe demodex, or ring worm, best to have it checked out.

But the backward sneezing you're describing, that's Kennel Cough. When dogs do that weird hacking thing, and it looks like they're trying to get a hairball out, but nothing comes out, that's what it is.

It's just a cold, but I would definitely go see your vet about the bald spot, and for some antibiotics.

  6. You have to take him to a vet.

  7. take him to a vet, if needed tape the activity before seeing the vet to show him your concern.  Dog may be fine though, i think bassett hounds have a history of snoring/breathing noises.

  8. take him to vet, he has something wrong with his breathing system or it might be allergies. i think bald spots will be ok, but the breathing problem is seriouse!!

  9. Take him to the vet- it sounds like he is experiencing some sort of allergy.

Have you recently moved, changed his food/diet, or changed what you wash him with?

My friend had a dog that all of a sudden got an allergy to the preservatives in the food that he had always eaten, and his skin became itchy and he scratched so much his hair fell out; I don't know if this is the same thing your docg is experiencing.

  10. at nine months old you should have taken your dog to the vet a few times at least (shots, checkup, worms, etc)if you cant afford to take care of your friend give him or her to sombody that can care for the animal.

  11. You didn't feed it chocolate right?

  12. its because of its size, and the bald spot fleas maybe

  13. I would take him into the vet. My vet had mentioned it to me as maybe being a viral infection and told me that if my dog did present that problem to call her since my dog does a lot of sneezing. But it could also be a reaction to allergies too. The vet may recommend to give a very small does of benadril to your dog as my vet did to mine.

  14. don't waste your time on hear , take the poor thing to the vet ,thats the first thing you should have done

  15. Has he been checked out by the vet since he got this bald stop and this breathing condition? That is the first thing I would do. It is just so hard to help someone on here without seeing the dog.

  16. he might have cancer cheek with your vet dude now!!! just do it y are u asking us non of us are pet doctors just go!!!!

  17. it is thirsty and it may have fleas or ticks
