  1. It probably would be best to keep him inside the first day to make sure he isn't l*****g his stitches, but you still need to keep a close eye on him inside or outside.

  2. no, it isn't. dogs can't regulate their body temperatures after anesthetic. that means if it's hot, he can't cool down, if it's cold, he can't warm himself up. a couple of nights in the bathroom or laundry room won't hurt you. it's also not good for him to get his stitches dirty, which will happen if he's left outside, then you get infections and all kinds of other stuff......

  3. Honestly he should be inside (Id like to say always lol) but atleast a day or two after surgery.  How old is he?  Not to be rude but why is a puppy an outside dog anyway?  Im sure you take good care of him, as you are 1) concerned and 2) getting him fixed.  Just please keep him inside after the surgery and give him some tlc and a nice comfy blanket or pillow to lay on.

  4. no. I wouldnt keep him outside. Wouldnt be fair. In my opinion he shouldnt be outside at all but thats another story. Anyway, you should keep him inside until his sutures/ staples are removed. You dont want him running around free. He needs to stay confined and get lots of rest after surgery. If you just had surgery would you want to be outside with your surgery site getting yucky and possibly infected?

  5. If you just had your genitals cut off, would you like to spend your recovery time all alone outside?

    Thats what I thought.

  6. yes,

but give him some steak. he deserves it.

    and a slim jim.

  7. maybe he should stay inside for the first day, because he will have stitches and stuff, but after that, it is totally fine!

  8. Honestly, he needs to be monitored closely. It's very easy for new wounds to become infected. The best bet would be to kennel him inside.

If you plan to keep him outside request that the vet close the wound with glue.

  9. I would keep him inside for awhile just so that you can keep a close eye on him, especially until the anaesthetic wears off.  Also, he will probably need to be kept as quiet as possible for a while after that.  He will be very sore and sorry for himself for a bit.

  10. Honestly, the answer is definitely no. I work as a tech at a vet clinic, and the instructions we send our patrons home with are to watch closely, not allow any running at all (sutures can be pulled) and to keep calm and quiet. And this is not for a couple of days; this would be for more like a week to ten days! And in addition, many dogs l**k and bite at the surgical site, and because of this you have to watch your pet and/or leave a head collar on him (one of those big lampshade looking things) so he can't reach his sutures. And the sutures cannot get wet, either. He needs to be inside!

  11. if he's used to being outside then it would be alright to keep him outside.  It would be better to keep him where you can keep an eye on him for the first day or two home.  Can you keep him in the house, maybe in the laundry room or the garage, if it's not too hot, while he is healing?
