My puppy is sick help!?

my puppy is 10 weeks old and he has cocidia and he has not been eating a lot but we found that he will eat bread is that ok to give him?

No bread can bind in their stomachs..try boiled chicken, white or brown rice, plain yogurt, cottage cheese.did the vet give him IV? he can also give him a shot to help his appetite I hope he makes it good luck!

Go to the pet store and get some of the Nutri Cal it is in a tube and is for ick dogs high in calories, and tastes good to most dogs.Bread won't hurt but not much nutrition , Be sure he gets plenty of water. May be some beef or chicken broth,be sure to take him to the vet if he doesn't improve.

Did the vet treat the puppy with medication yet?  It is very important you get a vet to diagnose and treat it ASAP. If cocidia is what it is.  I am not a professional.  But I would suggest baby food (not fruit or vegetables).  Chicken noodle etc... may help.  Unless the vet told you not to feed that to him.

I am sorry...I am not familiar with cocidia - I tried to look it up but got nothing with that spelling.

Could you elaborate on the illness???

Bread is not a really good alternative to dog food. It contains a lot of wheat and that is not necessarily good for dogs.

Have you tried small pieces of boiled chicken or maybe some brown rice???

I can't really help since I don't know the illness.

My dog had cocidia  as a puppy and she still ate.  I presume your vet is treating her for the cocidia.  She may have a different problem if she's not eating.

Bread isn't going to hurt her in small amounts, but it's not good to eat bread as her entire diet.  Talk to your vet about feeding her something that will be healthy besides just bread.

You need to call your vet and ask them what to do.  They would probably know what to do best over what random people on the internet would say what to do.  I mean, if it put your new puppy's life at risk. That's what i would do. Check to see if they have an emergency line or try to find any vet that's open this late at night and ask if they will take your pup in. Hope I Helped!

You need to get the puppy to a vet right away.  That is dangerous and the puppy needs medication for it.  The only thing I would give him is boiled chicken with plain rice.  Use skinless boneless chicken and just cut it into tiny pieces and use boiled minute rice.  If he continues to not eat, you need to get him to a vet.  Bread has a lot of sugar in it and that is hard for dogs to process and might make him sicker.
