My puppy just got neutered today and hasn't peed yet.?

I took my 5 months old puppy to the vet this morning for his neutering. I ended up picking him up at 3:00p, because the vet said he was too active and barking too much. When he got home, he drank some water and was really active. By 6 pm, I fed him about a quarter cup of food and he drank about 2-3 cups of water. I took him outside to pee twice, but he didn't. He would take a few steps and then sit down on the cement. I don't know if this is normal behavior after neutering for male dog. His t******e areas are red and swollen. I think the vet said it is normal on the first day. I might give him a few more hours, since he hasn't been napping. He's been chewing on his kong for an hour. Any advises and experience would help. Thanks.

He may be a little uncomfortable, seeing as he had surgery in that part of his body today.  Just give him until tomorrow, and if he doesn't pee by tomorrow night then I recommend at least calling your Vet to see what they say.

Vets in my area have the dog stay overnight so I'm surprised he had you pick him up because he was "too active and barking too much".

I recently had 2 pups neutered within a couple weeks of each other and they both had different reactions.  The 5month old acted like nothing happened, had no swelling and didn't have to wear a cone.  The 8month old had swelling, fever, and had to wear a cone (he looked so depressed too!).  When I picked up the 8mo old, he peed a LOOOOONG time when we left the vet office so it could be that he was holding it since the day before.  Maybe wait til tomorrow if he pees and then call the vet for advise.
