Question:

My puppy keeps shaking in her sleep?

I know puppys twitch and stuff when they are sleeping, but my pup does this full out shake for a minute or two at a time and I have never seen any of my other puppies or dog do that so I am wondering if this is normal or not.

It doesn't seem to bother her, but I am kind of worried, could it be seizures?

I meant to ask the vet yesterday when we went in for her second set of shots, but I forgot and I plan to ask at my next appointment but I figured I would see if anyone on Y!A could enlighten me.

Thanks!

  1. shes probably  dreaming ....they move wen they dream sometimes...maybe call your vet in case

  2. Nope, she's dreaming.  Mine does the same thing.

  3. nah it's dreaming.

    im sure of it.

or go to your vert to be sure

  4. ok?????????

  5. When she starts to shake, see if you can wake her.  If so, then it probably isn't a seizure, or anything to worry about.  You can always call the vet and ask, instead of waiting for the next appt.

  6. I dont know if it could be a seizure, but I do know dogs have dreams which cause them to 'twitch' and 'move'.

  7. I would call the vet and ask them, yes puppies can shake when they sleep but if she is doing it in pauses like that it could be a seizure.  I wouldn't wait for her next appointment they should be able to tell you over the phone if its normal.

  8. More than likely it is just a dream. Do her eyes appear to be moving under the lids? Is her mouth twiching? Does she ever bark in her sleep? My two dogs twich alot when they are sleeping and dreaming. Sometimes they even bark in their sleep and wake themselves up. It is kind of funny. If you are nervous, give your vet a call and ask them if it is something you should be concerned about. Your instinct is the best advice.

    Good Luck!

  9. I wouldn't be worried unless she shakes like that while awake. My puppy constantly freaks me out while she's sleeping. She shakes and twitches pretty badly at times with her eyes half open. I've woken her up before just to make sure she was okay and she looks at me like, "What is your problem, woman!?"
