My puppy whines when I leave, even when people are home.?

So I have a 4 month old miniature pinscher and there is only really one problem we have with him. He is very attached to me so when I leave (even just the room) he whines constantly! Even when my hubby's home and tries to play with him and keep him distracted. It makes it hard for him to bond with the dog when he constantly obsessing about me being away.

I have tried just ignoring him for a little while when I come home and when I leave the room but there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Oh! Were starting training in 3 weeks. :o)

Maybe he loves you so much!  Take him to a vet and have him diagnosed.

oh man, let me tell you about this i just got a new puppy hes 3 months old hes a rottweiler black lab mix hes very high strung but anyway he was like that before we got him into clicker training at pet smart caust 100$ but it was worth every penny! good luck with your puppy!

All puppies will be whine, they just grow out of it. Are you the only one feeding the puppy? Maybe the pup needs too see your husband feeding him too.

How soon did you get him from his mother?  Some dogs get a separation anxiety, especially when taken from their mom too early.  And like children, dogs are different, so what might be a good time for some puppies is still too early for others.  If it is separation anxiety I don't think there is much you can do other than get him on a schedule and keep on the same schedule so that he can get used to the way things are gonna be...

He sees you as his den leader, and probably suffers from a separation anxiety when you leave.  Keep trying the ignoring him when you first get home, it might take awhile, but hopefully eventually he'll stop.  It took awhile for my dog to see others as "friends" as well.

I'm sure he will grow out of it. Just to be on the safe side have him checked out. I was going to say that before I read the details but it's always good to do so. :) I love puppies, good luck!

One suggestion would be wear a t-shirt around for like 2 days, it will now have a good sent on it of you. When you are away let the puppy have it. This should help some but when you go to training that will help even more.
