  1. Quaker parrots are intelligent and only talk around intelligent people.

    hmmmmmmmmm......  need i say more.

  2. How old is your Quaker would be my first question. Is it a male or female (if you know)? I had a female Quaker. And yes, she was very loud and irritating to some people. However, when she was content, such as playing with her toys or in her Happy Hut she was very calm. After about 6 years of owning her she would get very quiet and it turned out she was laying eggs and nurturing them. Only if i reached in did she get loud. But they do tend to be quite the little screamers.

I once had to take her to a bird specialist because she began plucking herself uncontrollably. Turned out she had a skin infection and had to be treated. Watch your bird for any signs of that as the Quakers tend to have that syndrome. Good luck.

To Bruce C: Then my Quaker must have thought I was a genious! LOL

  3. New birds are nervous, so they are not going to be loud right off the bat.  Give him time, he'll scream you out of bed very soon. Enjoy this short silence.

But since he is a new bird, he needs a new bird exam, anyways, at an Avian Vet. So they will be able to answer all your questions.

  4. Oh don't let that bird fool you, once it settles in you will hear it make noise. sense you just got it, give a few days to settle in and sometimes a bird can take up to 14 days to settles in. You will notice very soon that at the crack of daylight your bird will want to wake you up too. I usually get up and open the curtains for them to quiet them down. GOOD LUCK!
