Actually, the restaurants I'm concerned with are in the Henderson County area (Cedar Creek Lake area) of east tx.

.... specifically, seven points, gun barrel city and malakoff.

Out of which of the following restaurants would you recommend and why?:

1. seven points - El Rosal, El Jacalito

2. gun barrel city - The Jalapeno Tree

3. malakoff - Ochoa's, Hernandez Mex. Rest.

I've been to most of them....but it's been a long time. So, I really want your opinion on this subject. Any comments would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks.

  1. Ochoa's is the most authentic and yummy!

  2. The Jalapeno Tree....yummy

  3. I've never eaten at any that you mention, but a good rule of thumb is to look for people of Mexican/Latino descent eating there. If all you see are white people, then it is probably just another run of the mill Tex-Mex restaurant.

Just depends on if you want authentic or not.

  4. A coworker of mine highly recommends Jalapeno Tree to me every time she's out that way, but I know they're more of a chain.  I tend to prefer smaller hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

I don't know anything about the others.

  5. ochoa   athens  texas

  6. DEFINITLY LUNA DE NOCHE OR BLUE MESA!!!! THEIR THE BEST!!!!!!!1

  7. I like the Jalapeno Tree.  We have one in Mesquite now.  The chicken fajitas are the greatest.  They come with some kind of spicy buttery sauce and it is just too good.
