My question is about parental rights..?

i am in a situation where the girl i am with, is pregnant... but!!! i found out that legally she is still married. i want to be considered the father .. but do i stand the chance of losing this? how can a prevent this from happening? thanks in advance for the feedback.

  1. well in the state of ohio if the woman is married the man is automatically assumed the father and put on the birth certificate even if they know the kid isnt theirs. you can always go file paternity tho.


  2. The only way to prove the your the father is to take a DNA test, if this proves you are the father then you have all the rights and responsibilities that come with that. I would stay involved in the pregnancy and provide as much support as you possibly can emotionally as well as financially. Good Luck.

  3. If you are biologically the father then you can prove that with a paternity test and then you will have parental rights but if the husband is the father or someone else then legally you won't have any rights.  

  4. Laws vary from state to state.

    In some states, the husband is automatically considered the father.  In others, that's not the case.  

    I hope she's planning on working hard at getting that divorce finalized before the baby's born, at least.  Did you seriously JUST find out she's still married?  If so, run away from that deceptive little you-know-what before she really screws you over.  If she's that deceptive, how can you even know it's your kid?
