redneckgirl is right....100%  it also costs a small fee of like 6 Euros or something...

What do you mean by hard and paper copy?? When a child is born in Germany you receive a birth certificate - just like in any other country I assume. In order to get another certified copy of the birth certificate you have to do a request with the "Einwohnermeldeamt" (town hall) of the city where the child was born.
